We love the Evangecube!
A very small 5-year old girl, Palesa, grabbed the attention of our whole team during this week. The lady who cooked the porridge for lunch time, Pinkie, brought her to the holiday club. Palesa is from Mabopyane and she goes to crèche, so she has a surprising grasp of the English language, unlike the other young kids, as they only start learning English from Grade 4. Apart from that she has an astonishing boldness for her age.
I moved away a little from the face painting and took an EvangeCube out to show to some kids. The previous afternoon some of the team had already impacted many of the kids with this method of telling the Gospel. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the younger ones, because they could not understand English.
Palesa came to make herself very comfortable on my lap and took the EvangeCube out of my hands. This was the first time I met her. I realized she was able to understand what I was saying, so I asked her to tell the other two or three kids around us in Setswana what each picture meant. She made sure she turned the Cube to the first picture and started in a very confident and animated way explaining each picture in Setswana. She carefully went in the correct order explaining to her captivated audience what each picture signified. When they left, she would explain to the next few kids, each time two or three heard the Gospel from a 5 year old in their own language. I did not think at the time to talk to Palesa about prayer and teach her to lead the kids in prayer, which would have been a good way to conclude each conversation. (My lack of faith in what God can do through a 5 year old….). I believe God sent her as a volunteer to join the team for the week as much as any of the others were part of the volunteer team - Fransie O’Brien
